What is Sharklahoma?

Sharklahoma, founded in 2019, is a joint effort between the Oklahoma Aquarium and the Jenks Chamber of Commerce, designed to enhance the celebration of sharks, the Oklahoma Aquarium, and Jenks, Oklahoma! 

​

The Oklahoma Aquarium is home to the largest bull shark collection in the world and we’re proud of it.

​

The Oklahoma Aquarium opened in 2003 along the banks of the Arkansas River, bringing with it more than 300,000 visitors per year. For Jenks, the aquarium has been an economic engine, point of pride, and one of the state’s most unique attractions.

​

In 2018, the Jenks Chamber and the Oklahoma Aquarium met and asked, “how do we celebrate what a great attraction the aquarium is and what a great community Jenks is?”

​

The answer came to them: a month-long celebration of all-things sharks, the aquarium, and Jenks. The name: Sharklahoma!

When is Sharklahoma?
